Fruit of the Doom

A tree of knowledge in a former garden of Eden, now guess the fruit:

Bansho Miura shot this citrons in the zone around Fukukshima. Like I know, 6 months ago, so it could be a frost damage, too. And there are actually nasty mites and fungi which can cause such deformations. But number, size and the structure of the leaves are most unusual, that looks more like a mutation to me. That plants simply grow giant because of radiation is most naive Sciene Fiction, the run riot instead. Well, the original citrus species from Asia actually look odd and even monstrously, like Buddha’s Hand. But I’ve digged through loads of local variations, this fruits come closest to the ordinary Citrus medica, just not a healthy one. The look of a fruit is one thing, its content another, read a little report of Iori Mochizuki about fallout fruits here. What are the odds that these fruits here don’t show symptoms of frost or fungi, but the contamination in the zone? I can’t help it, they remind me to Biollante and I wouldn’t eat them, even Eve herself would try to tease me to, the fall of mankind isn’t worth that sin… now forget about the fig leaf and get a Namazu-e-shirt!

1 Girl 1 Cup

Got cream for my tea?

Mama Monster strikes again, one of her tecups got sold for $ 14.600 for Japan, the whole story here. No, wait, there’s still some vital information missing, the better half is here. Now tell me: How much is it to ship a rubber bracelet including the envelope? Even without postage flatrate and quantity discount not more than $ 1.50 or $ 2 in the USA, I guess. You now it from eBay, small item, big shipping, bad romance. And even she did actally ship it deluxe, the postal services made profit from that and she had priceless promotion for the money of other people. Different day, same shit, the item she did donate now has an real value of… let’s say, $ 40. And what are the odds, her Asia tour starts next week. The benefit is bullshit, too. Why support guest students from Japan if there is still so much suffering in Japan? Many refugees still life in camps, many more have lost everything. Remember: A house in „the zone“ is not even worth a single Yen anymore. For the owner, mortgages are still valid, no insurance pays for that. The residents on Minamisoma are allowed to come back now, but in a ghost town. Short: This kind of charity sucks, rather make yourself a Namazu-e-shirt and donate $ 5 to Bansho Miura’s HEART CARE RESCUE. Well, I had to trick Google to translate the contact info, but maybe it’s just facebook acting strange with Fukushima info: Weiterlesen

Trouble in paradise

In case you don’t know yet, Namazu was the name of an „anarchist“ magazine in the late 1070’s. The editors didn’t throw Molotow cocktails, they just dared to talk about ecological problems made in Japan. Well, to criticize economy was and still is blasphemy there. Not a privilege, same shit here in Germany. But Japan is extreme in every aspect. Like a director of political (!) pink movies said in the documentary Otaku: „Japan is a strange land!“. That’s why you won’t find any of the later Namazu-e in the portfolio of touristic folklore, at least not with a brief description what they really mean. Some time ago, the art student Zhaes has made some kind of a Namazu-e without knowing it, named „The rising sun“:

I’ve asked him if he could write a dierctors cut of the description which you can read here. Paradise lost in Okinawa? Strange, the pearl and bestseller of the tourism industry of Japan was subject of my second to last post. It seems like the Iriomote cat isn’t the only endangered species on Okinawa, even the next Japanese nuclear power plant is ca. 600 kilometers away from the main island. The next nuclear power plant to Iriomote, the very last sanctuary of nature in Japan, is here, ca. 230 kilometers away. That’s nearly the same distance from Fukushima to Tokyo. Well, there’s open sea in between, but radiation travels seaward with the wind. And Taiwan is not suited for nuclear power plants, too. In fact, no land is, but seismic hot spots are even less…

Can you feel it?

Namazu related art isn’t that rare, but magic moments are. The 3rd February was one for Namazu art, if even not the magic moment of magic moments. Now ladies and gentleman, Namazu-e-shirt proudly presents:

Well, it’s still a prototype, but the idea literally rocks! It actually gives you an idea how Namazu feels, here is an article of his supernatural powers by my catfish comrade ferrebeekeeper. Like I’ve said in my comment, the Namazu necklace is like a mood ring, just for the whole world. I really can’t wait to see the final design(s). For the catfishwalk at the release party there’s only one dignified track, of course:

Of course this floorfilla is more about human nature, but the video is  apocalyptic, note the tsunami after the prolouge, moonwalk is futile.
