Well, Namazu has many faces: The wild monster, the cruel and the friendly avenger, sort of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. On some Namazu-e he is the first, a real philantropist, he takes from the filthy rich and gives to the poor. Today he’s a disaster awareness mascot for kids. „It is actually part of a collaboration that has yet to go anywhere. A potential client of sorts gave me the description of the character for a children’s book series he wants to write, something akin to The Wind and the Willows.
As for me, I’m a part-time artist that wants to illustrate children’s books.“
